Van Driver/Warehouse Operative - Southampton

Location: 150 Commercial Road, Totton, Southampton SO40 3AA
Hours: 3 Days per week (10am-4pm)
Salary: £10-£12 an hour


Hargroves Cycles are looking for a Van Driver/Warehouse Operative to join our team based in Southampton. We are looking for someone with a full, clean driving license and experience of driving a 3.5-tonne panel van or equivalent.

About The Job

Working from our head office in Southampton, the ideal candidate will have good experience of driving a 3.5-tonne panel van with the ability to load and unload the van. Transferring stock between our stores and key locations in a time-efficient and professional manner while assisting with basic warehousing tasks at each location.


Your Role

  • Driving of company van
  • Delivery of stock between stores and key locations
  • Basic warehousing operations such as safe manual handling of deliveries and boxed bikes
  • Play an active role in maintaining an efficient stock management system

You’ll Need The Following Skills

  • Full, clean driving license
  • Experience of driving a 3.5-tonne panel van or equivalent
  • Safe manual handling of weights up to 25kg
  • Ability to work in an efficient manner, meeting required deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Have a basic computer competency

Sales Advisor/Bike Mechanic - Winchester

Location: Unit 1, Winchester Trade Park, Easton lane, Winchester, SO23 7FA
Hours: Full Time
Salary: 18,000 - £24,000 - depending on experience


Hargroves Cycles are looking for a Sales Advisor/Bike Mechanic to join our Winchester store.

About The Job

The ideal candidate will have a passion for cycling and all things bikes, have excellent customer service skills and demonstrate a proven track record as a cycle mechanic with previous retail experience. If this sounds like you and you have the desire to work as part of a strong and committed team in an incredibly varied role, then we would love to hear from you!


Your Role

  • Providing excellent levels of customer service
  • Actively pursue all sales opportunities and ensure that the customer is advised on a suitable product for their individual needs
  • Maintenance, repairs and servicing
  • Maintain a smart, tidy, safe and well-merchandised working environment
  • Complete daily and weekly duties ensuring the smooth running of the store
  • Handling special orders, warranty returns, booking in jobs and customer issues
  • Being aware of current promotions, working with EPOS systems
  • Aid in unloading stock transfers
  • Play an active role in maintaining an efficient stock management system

You’ll Need The Following Skills

  • Knowledge of an extensive range of cycle equipment as you will be building bikes; identifying faults and deciding what kind of repairs or maintenance are needed
  • A Cytech qualification would be advantageous, but most importantly experience with bike repairs and servicing
  • You will need to be thorough and be able to pay attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both with customers and work colleagues
  • Be able to work as part of a dynamic sales team
  • Have the drive to achieve and the self-motivation to maintain the highest of standards
  • Ensure a smart appearance and a helpful, approachable attitude is maintained at all times
  • Have a basic computer literacy
  • During extreme times you may be required to complete tasks outside of your normal duties/responsibilities or working hours

Bike Mechanic - Monday to Friday

Salary: £20,000-£24,000 - depending on experience


Hargroves Cycles are looking for an experienced Bike Mechanic to join our Websales team based in Southampton. We are looking for someone who has a passion for cycling, holds a recognized qualification as a cycle technician (Cytech Level 2 or equivalent experience), and can demonstrate a proven track record as a cycle mechanic.

About The Job

The ideal candidate will have good experience of building and maintaining all bike types, good knowledge of Shimano and SRAM groupsets and a clear desire to work as part of a strong and committed team. If this sounds like you and you feel you have what it takes to build, repair, and maintain high-end cycling equipment, then we would love to hear from you!


Your Role

  • Building and inspection of all bike types including performing adjustments to PDI standard
  • Packaging of bikes for dispatch in an efficient and professional manner
  • Basic Warehouse operations such as booking in of stock, safe manual handling of deliveries and boxed bikes
  • Play an active role in maintaining an efficient stock management system
  • Occasional driving of company van preferred, but not essential

You’ll Need The Following Skills

  • Good technical knowledge of an extensive range of bikes (including e-bikes) and cycle equipment
  • A Cytech Level 2 qualification or equivalent industry experience with additional training provided to the successful candidate
  • Ability to work in an efficient manner to meet required deadlines
  • Good knowledge of Shimano and SRAM groupsets
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Have a basic computer competency

Assistant Store Manager - Southampton

Hargroves Cycles are looking for an Assistant Store Manager to help us build on the success of our well-established Southampton store. You will be responsible for driving the performance of the store while engaging with customers to offer the highest level of service.

About The Job

The role will see the successful applicant integrating as a key member of a growing team. Reporting directly to the store manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the store, representing the brand and delivering excellent product knowledge to our diverse customer base. Excellent customer service skills, an active interest in Cycling and previous retail experience are preferred however if you don't have all of these but think you're the right candidate, we'd love to hear all about why!


  • Dealing with customers delivering the highest level or service
  • Driving the performance of the store to ensure sucess
  • Opening and closing of the store including end of day duties
